Seinäjoki is the education and working centre of South Ostrobotnia. Growth is based on strong entrepeneuership. Long traditions in the areas of wood products, food industry and metal knowledge have evolved to ICT, health technology and food industry know-how that uses the latest technologies and production methods.
In the Seinäjoki region we invest in the constant development of our knowledge and facilities. The most visible example of this is Seinäjoki Science Park. The heart of education, applied research and development is a university consortium formed by five universities, the wide-ranging Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences and the Seinäjoki Region Knowledge Centre (for the food industry and ICT). The EPANET network for research professors currently has over ten professors working in the area of research, supporting the economic life of the region.
